It only takes one!
When I decided to be a part of the travel industry, I initially did it because I love to travel and wanted to experience all of the beautiful wonders of the world. However, it wasn’t until I took a trip to visit my daughter in Washington, DC in January 2019 that changed my life. This change took place when I stood in the very spot Martin Luther King Jr. stood on the steps of The Lincoln Memorial where he gave the “I had a Dream’ speech. As I looked out from that spot, I quickly understood that it only takes one to make a change. Then, I began to envision what he must have seen. Thousands upon thousands of people who not only supported him, but waited for him to give a speech that would be the most prolific and historical speech of all time.
As tears began to stream down my face, I found myself as one with him in that moment. I thought to myself what he must’ve have been thinking, “What could I possibly say that will change the life of these people? “Lord help me!” I believe he knew that whatever was said could make or break history. So he had to stand and be strong in what God had placed in his heart for such a time. If it had to be him, then he made the choice to go all in!
So it’s because of him and many others, my passion for working with the youth as well as families, has allowed me to impart and make traveling experiences enjoyable, educational and memorable for those who wanted it. I found that in my line of work outside of travel, many of our youth have never had the luxury of traveling outside their state or even communities to explore what’s in/out of the text books and history. This can also be attributed to their parents not having those options as well during their childhood. So it becomes left up to the imagination of what they think a place is like. Therefore, I believe that traveling and seeing these places can unlock hidden potential and dreams. As I said before, it only takes one and if they or YOU are placed in the right scenario, who knows what can be unleashed.
